my career

"What are you going to be when you grow up?"

This question really hits me hard today. I went to the NTU's career fair. I tot maybe i can get an idea what I really wants. Right now i onli know that I dun want to be an Engineer and I also dun want to be a teacher. Firstly I am technically-deficient to a good engineer. Secondly I am too irresponsible to make an impact in somebody's life.

Before I went, I tot maybe I can work in a bank. wear nice nice to work and happily sit in air con room ..... then when pple ask mi where u working.....a bank will nv sound bad even though you are someone who teaches pple how to use the atm.

then i went to the fair, there are no banks there onli HSBC Insurance. there are mainly 2 kinds of jobs. Financial planners and Engineers. AIA, Prudential, Alliance, Fine-xis, Philip Capital, First Principal, AXA wealth mgt etc.........so how? I am starting to fear that I will have no choice but to join this financial advisory business. This industry is said to be growing and growing. I just wonder will it bursts?

It is purely commission base. There are damn loads of success stories. I wonder how many of them are true. Let's see: If i join the biz......my first clients are going to be my relatives. so i will be feeding on my relative's salary for my first few months. Then I went into the referral phase. How many people are so free to help u publicise? Telling pple:"hey Wenting is in this biz, if u want to invest go and find her." ppl:"Why her? She can provide with something other advisors cannot?" The answer is no. The only difference is I can speak in Hokkien plus a bit of Cantonese that will make you laugh your heads off.

Yes yes yes. I have always been telling my friends I hope to be doing sales rather than boring admin jobs. Is there another kind of sales that will spare me from friends shunning away ?

haha lets see.....but if one day I really have no choice.....remember.....DUN avoid me. hee
